Intended to be an introduction to coaching skills for managers, teachers, and professionals, Manager as Coach is an 8-hour training that delivers tools related to motivation and performance, so we can improve ourselves and best serve others.

2 sessions are conducted online with Dr Robert Biswas-Diener.

Introduction to Performance Coaching – Saturday, 30 May 2020

In this session, participants will learn to define coaching and recognise its professional boundaries. We will focus especially on setting sophisticated agendas, powerful listening skills, and asking provocative questions. There will be demonstrations, discussion, and opportunities for practice.

In preparation for this session: Lecture on ‘Coaching and the Coaching Session’

3 hours of interactive coach training, 1 hour of self-paced study

Responsible and Effective Coaching – Sunday, 31 May 2020

In this session, participants will learn about the ethical foundations of coaching as well as tools for understanding and harnessing emotion as it relates to motivation.

In preparation for this session: Lecture on ‘Goals and Motivation’

3 hours of interactive coach training, 1 hour of self-paced study

About the Trainer

Dr Robert Biswas-Diener, Coach and Professor of Psychology, is widely known as the “Indiana Jones of Positive Psychology” because his research on happiness has taken him to such far-flung places as Greenland, India, Kenya and Israel. He is a positive psychologist, certified mental coach, researcher, managing director of Positive Acorn as well as modular leader at The School of Positive Psychology. He regularly conducts workshops and keynote lectures for multi-national corporations, and his coaching practice typically has a three-month waiting list.
