Build Up Your Resilience (2-day workshop)
Resilience is the process of adapting well in the face of adversity, trauma, tragedy, threats or significant sources of stress. It means bouncing back from difficult experiences and learning how to manage the ongoing demands of life.
In this 2-day interactive workshop, learn effective ways to handle challenges and obstacles in life to help you to thrive. You will be taught resilient techniques— deliberate actions that people undertake to support themselves before, during and after challenging situations. This training builds on research findings from four relevant fields of study, namely cognitive behavioural therapy, resilience, post traumatic growth and positive psychology.
Resilience is required to overcome painful past experiences, childhood trauma and pain, loss, and poverty. When people are resilient, they are better able to cope with adversity and more likely to bounce back after challenging life situations. They may be able to use adversity or trauma as an opportunity to learn and grow.
Benefits of Resilience:
- Reduces hopelessness
- increases optimism and wellbeing
- Prevents clinical levels of depression and anxiety
- Reduces conduct problems in schools
- Improves health-related behaviours, e.g., fewer symptoms of physical illness, better diet and more exercise
Resilient people are aware of situations, their own thinking, emotional reactions and the behaviour of themselves and of those around them. This awareness leaves the resilient person in more control and more able therefore to manage challenges, and make changes or seek support if needed.
