What is Psychotherapy and Counselling?
Psychotherapy is a general term for the interpersonal and relational intervention of treating mental and emotional disorders.
Psychotherapy engages clients to vocalise their condition and related issues with a mental health professional.

Course Modules
PSY 04 Introduction to Psychotherapy and Counselling
The module looks at several theories such as the psychoanalytic theories of Freud, the humanistic approach and REBT to name a few.
Students will be taught the fundamental skills of a therapist such as listening, attending, and responding skills. Students will further learn questioning techniques to be able to interact with clients. This module will provide students with the understanding and applicability of psychotherapy and counselling to successfully implement this professionally and in other areas of development such as personal, life, relationships, workplace and family.
Upon completion of the Certificate in Counselling, students can advance to Diploma in Applied Positive Psychology / Diploma in Child Psychology and Interventions / Diploma in Psychotherapy & Counselling with 1 exemption.

Entry Requirement
- A pass in 1 GCE 'O' Level subject conducted in English, or
- A pass for ITE NITEC course in any field, or
- Mature candidates (30 years old and above), with 8 years work experience
English language requirement
- Pass in GCE ‘O’ Level English Language, or
- Pass in any GCE ‘A’ Level subject conducted in English, or
- IELTS 5.5, or
- TOEFL (Internet Based) 59, or
- Pearson PTE Academic 52
