Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) come in many forms, from physical and mental abuse to neglect and household dysfunction. In 1998, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (USA) and Kaiser Permanente conducted a landmark study that looked at the effects of ACEs on physical and mental health conditions in over 17,000 people. ACEs were shown to have a strong link to future health complications.
But experiencing ACEs do not doom one to a lifetime of unhappiness and poor health. One technique to moving beyond such trauma lies in developing psychological resilience, which can help counteract stress-induced brain changes.
In this talk you will discover:
- What are the 10 ACEs (and some possible others)?
- How do ACEs impact children and us?
- How can we help children overcome ACEs?
- How can we as adults overcome ACEs?
The talk will be followed by previews of selected TSPP courses.
What is the course preview about?
